EU vote on electronic cigarettes ‘makes no sense’
In actuality the deaths from tobacco rises higher than AIDS, suicides, murder, drug and alcohol abuse and motor vehicle accidents combined. The European Commission had proposed that e-cigarettes containing 4 milligrammes or more of nicotine must be classed as medicinal products but an EU parliamentary committee went further, voting to classify all e-cigarettes as pharmaceuticals, regardless of the nicotine content. It has led manufacturers to admit that e cigarettes would be available to only a few pharmacies once the law is enacted.
